Logan Concessions May Get Overhaul

Logan Airport could be completely overhauling its dining options. For the first time in more than a decade, the Massachusetts Port Authority is looking to hire a new company to oversee the concessions at its four Logan Airport terminals — a decision that could remake the vast array of retailers and restaurants there for years to come.

“This is really significant because the whole makeup at Logan is going to change,” said Ramon Lo, publisher of trade journal Airport Revenue News.

India & Indonesia Will Surpass China as Fastest-Growing Business Travel Market

Global business travel spending will increase to $1.3 trillion in 2016 and should grow an average of 5.8% per year to $1.6 trillion by 2020, according to the Global Business Travel Association’s annual forecast.

The forecast reports that India and Indonesia will experience the largest business travel growth rates over the next five years, both surpassing China in terms of business travel growth. China surpassed the US as the largest business travel market in 2015, but its business travel growth rate will slow to fifth-highest over that period. Although China has been experiencing the fastest growth in the world for 15 years, GBTA’s annual forecast predicts they will be overtaken by both India and Indonesia.

“Basically, what we show is this eastward-westward asymmetry … comes from the fact that your [circadian rhythms] have a natural period that is a little longer than 24 hours,” Associate Professor Michelle Girvan told Travel + Leisure.
